KENNETH PATTERSON SR. ULYSSES – Kenneth Patterson Sr., 97, died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008, at Western Prairie Care Home in Ulysses.
He was born Sept. 6, 1911, to C.F. and Emmaline (Lingwood) Patterson in Bucklin. He married Edith Penka May 13, 1934, in Ulysses. She died March 8, 2008. He graduated from Grant County Rural High School in 1929.
He was a carpenter and a farmer and owned Hickok Community Grocery Store and was a former City of Ulysses councilman. He also worked for High Plains Lumber. He was a member of Odd Fellows Lodge and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ulysses. Survivors include one son, Kenneth Patterson Jr. and wife, Joann, Ulysses; four grandchildren, Norman Patterson, Joe Bob Patterson, Tami Chandler and Leanne Moore; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Irene Lance, one granddaughter, Alice Marie Hook, and two great-grandchildren; Julie Ann Brooks and Franklin Rice. o Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Ulysses with the Rev. Wayne Flanders and the Rev. Bill Harrold presiding. Burial will follow at Ulysses Cemetery.
