Brenda L. Johnston 51, died Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, KS.

She was born February 10, 1958 in East St. Louis, St. Clair, Illinois, to Ernest DeWitt Johnston, Jr. and Elva Marie (Wolfe) Johnston.

Brenda attended schools in Liberal, Kansas, Excelsior Springs, Missouri, and Seward County Community College, Liberal, Kansas. She worked in the Liberal community for several area businesses. She was a claims clerk for Wal-Mart, cook for Pizza Hut Delivery and a CNA for Good Samaritan Center. She was also a certified EMT.  She was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church.  Her hobbies included her cat Baby, playing games on the internet, scrapbooks and crafts.

She is survived by sister – Karen Ann Rinehart and husband Ray Dee of Liberal, Ks. sister – Carol Lynn Howard of St. Louis, Mo., brother – Ernest DeWitt Johnston, III of Olivehurst, Ca., aunt – Nadine Ford, Ogden, Utah, uncle – Larry and Vonnie Wolfe, Carlyle, Illinois, cousins – Craig, Jennette and Lindsay Ford of Tebbits, Mo., and cousins – Cole Ford, Debra Turnbull and Otto Poulson, Ogden, Utah.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, Delbert B. and Helen S. (George) Wolfe, Ernest DeWitt and Hazel Marie (Hughes) Johnston, Sr. and one uncle Frank Ford.

o Funeral service will be held 10 a.m., Friday, July 24th, 2009, at the Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home, 1212 West Second, Liberal, Ks., with the Reverend David Bagwell presiding.

Private burial will be held at Liberal Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2009, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Brenda L. Johnston Memorial Fund in care of Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home, 1212 West Second, Liberal, Ks.
