A Monday morning accident east of Liberal sent two men to Southwest Medical Center. Eric V. Phillips, 33, of Liberal sustained injuries as a result of the accident, while Charles J. Schnorr, 52, of Oklahoma City was transported to the hospital due to possible injuries, according to a report from the Kansas Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred at 7:45 a.m. at the junction U.S. Highway 54 and O Road, six miles east of Liberal.
A 2008 Dodge Ram driven by Schnorr was eastbound on Highway 54 slowing down to turn left onto O Road. A 2003 Dodge Dakota, driven by Phillips was eastbound on Highway 54 and struck the rear of the Dodge Ram. The Dodge Dakota came to rest facing east in the eastbound lane, and Dodge Ram came to rest on the eastbound shoulder facing east, the report noted.
Phillips was taken to Southwest Medical Center as a result of his injuries. However, Schnorr was taken to Southwest Medical Center due to only the possibility of injuries.
