It was an 8-0 shutout in favor of the Lady Cardinals in the first quarter that ended up being the biggest difference in an, other-wi se, evenly matched game with Turpin defeating the Tyrone Lady Bobcats, 44-34.
Raegan Alvarez keyed the Lady Cardinals offense with 23 points, and Trista Watson added 12. Five others scored, but none more than three.
After taking an 8-0 lead in the first quarter, Turpin added one to it in the second, and led 17-8 at the break.
Both teams had their best scoring output of the day in the third quarter. Turpin again added another point to their lead, outscoring Tyrone 15-14 to make the score 32-22 heading into the fourth. Each team scored 12 in the fourth, and Turpin picked up the win.
Seven Lady Bobcats scored, but none reached double figures. Shelbi Davis was Tyrone's top scorer with 8; Tori Dumler and Trista Jaramillo each added 6.
In the other girls' game on the consolation side of the bracket, Hardesty defeated Goodwell 31-29. Tyrone faced Goodwell Saturday morning for seventh. Turpin faced Hardesty for the consolation trophy Saturday afternoon.
