Tuesday arrest made easier with use of Special Response Team

By ROBERT PIERCE • Daily Leader

Police have released additional details about an arrest made Tuesday afternoon at a house on Pershing Avenue.

Captain Dave Odle of the Liberal Police Department said the capture of the wanted suspect was relatively uneventful, but he did say law enforcement officials are continuing to move forward with part of the investigation or subsequent investigations.

“We’d received some information about a wanted individual on a felony warrant,” he said. “The warrant was for aggravated battery.”

Odle said police had done research on the person’s location to track him to the house in the 200 block of South Pershing.

“It was determined that we wanted to utilize the Liberal Special Response Team to execute the search warrant for the house for the individual,” he said. “During the service of the warrant, we located the individual in the basement. It went pretty well.”

The individual does have his first court appearance coming up, but Odle said he was uncertain of the date and time of that appearance.
