Charles M. “Peanuts” Franke, 85, died Friday, April 17, 2009, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

He was born Oct. 23, 1923, in Pennsylvania. 

He married Iva W. Kennedy Jan. 15, 1954, in Hutchinson. She survives.

He worked for the Rock Island Railroad and entered the U.S. Army during World War II. Following his service, he rejoined the railroad, working in the Liberal yard as an oiler and engine maintainance and retired in 1983.

He was a motorcycle rider and a member of H.O.G.

He is also survived by one brother, Sonny Franke, Trenton, N.J.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.

o Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Chapel.

Burial will be at the Restlawn Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until service time Tuesday at Miller Mortuary.

Memorials are suggested to the donor’s choice in care of the mortuary.
