It was all going so well for the Southwestern Heights Mustangs. After building a seven-point lead at half, it all fell apart for Heights in the third quarter where they were outscored 22-10. Meade held steady in the fourth quarter to win 68-62.

Meade’s ability to get to the charity stripe played a huge role in the game. The Buffaloes made more free throws (22) than Heights even attempted (16).

Heights got off to a great start. Ben Johnsrud hit two threes in the first quarter, and the Mustangs led 16-10 at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter turned a little more up-tempo as Heights outscored Meade 17-16 to lead 33-26 at the break.

After falling behind the Buffaloes in the third, Heights was unable to overcome the deficit in the fourth quarter as Meade won it also 20-19.

Meade was led in scoring by Randy Friesen and Gunner Cordes, each with 16. Morgan Davis added 13. Clayton Chase led the Mustangs with 16, Rogelio Martinez scored 15, and Ben Johnsrud added 12.
