After suffering their first loss in over a month the previous night Hooker head coach Bud Valerius had to be concerned about how his team would respond. The Bulldogs put those concerns to rest with a steady performance that led to a 55-29 win over Deer Creek-Lamont Saturday at Cherokee, Okla.

I was a little bit worried,” Valerius said. “Anytime you travel that far for a third game in three days, and coming off a disappointing loss, but they handled it well. They responed like a great team needs too.”

Once again it was the Bulldogs pressure defense that forced turnovers and gave them plenty of easy baskets in transition. Hooker led 15-7 at the end of the first, and 27-18 at the half. Hooker only allowed Deer Creek-Lamont 11 points in the second half as they pulled away with 28.

Joe Bean led the Bulldogs at the offensive end with 22. Payson Slater added 10, and Alex Sanchez 9.

Hooker is now 11-2, and will travel to Rolla Tuesday.
