Liberal would like to have the third quarter back.

After trailing by only seven at halftime, the Redskins could not stop Lawton’s Delvonte Pierre. The Wolverine scored 12 of his game-high 32 points in the third quarter, doubling up Liberal’s six for the period. Lawton outscored the Redskins 28-6 in the third quarter, and Liberal fell 70-40.

Liberal only trailed 26-19 at half.

“The first half we played well,” Liberal coach Drew Gruver said. “We were talking offensively, and did a nice job making plays. Defensively we were very solid as well. We just didn’t come out ready to play and dug ourselves a hole in the third quarter. They had good enough guards they spread us out, and then they beat us up top and had a three on two advantage. We weren’t ready and didn’t play hard in the third quarter.”

Andre Jackson led the Redskins with 13 points.
