TURPIN, Okla. – Agustine J. “Aguie” Ortiz, 27, died Saturday April 11, 2009, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

He was born Nov. 5, 1981, to Sipriano and Larretta Tina (Romero) Ortiz in Guymon, Okla.

He was a 2001 graduate of Turpin, Okla., High School.  

He worked as a DJ for Darrell Tharp.

He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church.

He was a Denver Broncos fan.  He enjoyed going to the lake and making people laugh, and he loved his nieces and nephews.

Survivors include his parents, Sipriano and Tina Ortiz, Turpin; three brothers, Balente Ortiz, Turpin, Juanito Ortiz and wife, Clara Cardoza, Liberal, and Nicolas Ortiz and wife, Carmen Molina Ortiz, Turpin; one sister,  Maria Ortiz, Liberal; maternal grandparents, Charles Romero Sr.,  Raton, N.M.,  and  Edna Romero  Ulysses; great-grandmother, Mildred Sanchez, Wichita; two nephews, Tristen Ortiz, Tulsa, Okla., and Azael Ortiz, Liberal; and three nieces, Aileen Ortiz, Liberal, Angelica Melendez, Liberal,  and Aryssa Ortiz, Liberal.

He was preceded in death by his  paternal grandparents, Juana Soto and Rito Ortiz Sr.

o Rosary and vigil will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony Catholic Church of Liberal.     

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Father James P. Dieker presiding.  

Burial will be at Liberal Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to the Auguie Ortiz Memorial Fund in care of Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home, 1212 W. Second, Liberal, KS   67901.
