Long tops city commission election
By JESSICA CRAWFORD • Daily Leader A political newcomer catapulted to the top of the list after all the votes were counted Tuesday night.
Tim Long earned a four-year term on the Liberal City Commission by garnering 1,176 votes followed by current commissioner Joe Denoyer and a return to the commission by Bob Carlile.
Long was pleased with the results this morning.
“I think it turned out just fine – great!” he said. “I am looking forward to working with all four of these guys now to see what we can accomplish together – together as a team to accomplish the goals we need to make.”
This was Long’s first foray into politics, and he was thankful his family supported him.
“I would like to say a special thanks to my wife for standing beside me. You know going out every night door to door with me,” Long said.
“Also my committee – they worked very hard to help me get in. And most of all I would like to thank the voters for giving me the opportunity and privilege to serve them. I sure will do my best to do what is best for the community as alwasy,” he added.
