Special to the Leader & Times
The Warrior eighth grade volleyball teamd opened the season with a hard fought win against Abe Hubert, 22-20, 21-16. The Lady Warriors were slow to get going but found their groove and finished on a nice team effort.
West played South, and Jessica Cisneros got West out to a 10-point lead with her serving and team offense. West went on to win in two games, 21-14,21-16.
Dodge City was the next opponent for the Warriors, and West cruised to a 21-9 first game win , but Dodge City fought back to win game two 14-21. West came out the third game determined to gain back the momentum and won 15-5.
After a short break West took on Kenneth Henderson. Both teams played to their strengths and the score at half way was 11-10 Kenneth Henderson. West tried to gain the lead several times but some costly errors made it hard and Henderson finally won 17-21. In the second game West shot themselves in the foot by not being able to serve and some miscues on offense gave KH all that they needed to win the second game 9-21.
West (3-1) will travel to Guymon Thursday for a 4 p.m. quad.
