The Redskin underclassmen struggled to stop the Ulysses offense Tuesday at Redskin Field in a pair of losses to the Tigers.
The freshmen had a solid first-half performance after a slow start.
Ulysses scored on its first possession of the game to take a 6-0 lead, but the Redskin defense stepped up the rest of the half and held the Tigers scoreless.
Liberal’s offense put together a strong drive right before half that included a 24-yard completion form Tommy Cole to Manuel Rubio that set up a three-yard Rex Heronemus touchdown run and an 8-6 halftime lead.
But the Tigers dominated the third quarter to take a 22-8 lead. Both teams traded touchdowns in the fourth quarter.
The junior varsity had a touchdown on a kick return by Mauricio Neal, but that was all the offense for the Redskins in a 26-8 loss.
