The West Warrior seventh graders jumped out to an early lead and never looked back Thursday in the season opener against Guymon.
The Warriors scored two early touchdowns to take a 12-0 lead and scored twice in the fourth quarter for the shutout victory.
Chris Bowman scored on an 18-yard run on a quarterback keeper for the first score, and Kylan Thomas returned a punt 55 yards for a touchdown moments later to give the Warriors  12-0 lead.
Bowman threw a 10-yard pass to Cade Hinkle in the fourth quarter for a touchdown, and Bryan Alvarez intercepted a pass and returned it 35 yards for the final score of the game.
West coach Butch King implemented a new 4-3 defense this season, and the Warriors executed it to perfection i the shutout.
“The defense played great,” King said. “They were very disciplined and were where they were supposed to be. Guymon really didn’t drive the ball on us the entire game.”
The Warriors will play on their new home field at 4 p.m. Thursday when they host Hugoton.
