LEON E. OGLETREE
TURPIN, Okla. – Leon E. Ogletree, 82, died Monday, March 23, 2009, at his home in Turpin, Okla., following an extended illness.
He was born Nov. 10, 1926, to Otto and Fannie C. Capps Ogletree in Texas County, Okla.
He married Margaret Scott Aug. 9, 1946, in Garden City. She survives.
He graduated Eureka High School in Baker, Okla., in 1946.
He farmed with his father and raised cattle in the Tyrone community. He worked for Beech Aircraft for 22 years, retiring in 1988.
He was a member of the Turpin United Methodist Church, Turpin Senior Citizens and served as president of the Masonic Lodge at Tyrone as well as past master and had served in all chairs.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He is also survived by three sons, Loren Ogletree, Sittstown, Okla., David Ogletree, Wichita, and Randy Ogletree and wife, Donna, Bixby, Okla.; one daughter, Sherri Riffe and husband, Gary, Turpin; five grandchildren, Stacey Hensley and husband, Shawn, Stephanie Porter and husband, Matt, Sarah Roberts and husband, Chris, Randa Ogletree and Brian Ogletree and fiancee, Brandy McCalb; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Marvin Ogletree, one daughter, Elberta Ogletree, one brother, Bobby Gene Ogletree, and two sisters, Lois Lovelace and Phyllis Ogletree.
o Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Turpin United Methodist Church with the Rev. Todd Bergman presiding.
Burial will be at the Independence Cemetery in rural Turpin.
Friends may call from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 8 to 11 a.m. Friday at Miller Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church Parsonage Building Fund or to Turpin Senior Citizens in care of the mortuary.
