Cimarron River made the long drive to Yankton, S.D., and prepared to open the  Midwest Regional tournament against Colorado 2 at 3 p.m. today.
The tournament is pool play, and the Rattlers received a good pairing, playing Colorado’s second place team, host Yankton and the Missouri state champs.
Coach Brandon Hyde said the team was excited to play.
“They were disappointed they didn’t gt to play Fort Scott for the championship,” Hyde said. “It’s going to be an intense rivalry between our groups for quit some time.”
Due to rain, the Kansas state championship game was canceled Monday since both teams had already qualified for the Midwest Regional. Both teams hit the road to South Dakota and could meet in the Midwest Regional championship.
