Ruby Elvera Borchers, 94, died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, at Grace Living Center in Jenks, Okla.

She was born Jan. 4, 1915, to J. Oscar and Helma (Eckstrom) Erickson in Valley Springs, S.D. 

She married Clarence Henry Borchers March 17, 1934, in Sioux Falls, S.D. He died in1977.

She attended elementary school in Valley Springs, and her final three years of high school in Beaver Creek, Minn., graduating as valedictorian.

She was a musician, playing the piano, organ, accordion and guitar as well as being a soloist and participating in various choirs. In 1950, she and her husbandmoved to Sioux Falls, where they began Bible College.

She attended the Lutheran Church in Valley Springs and later attended the Pleasant View Evangelical United Brethren Church near Luverne, Minn., where she taught Sunday school.

She enjoyed reading, walking, crossword puzzles and sewing.

Survivors include one son, Verlynn Borchers and wife, Rene            Jenks; one daughter,  Carol Jean Krenz, Washington; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one daughter-in-law, Peggy Borchers, Plains.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, one son, Robert, four brothers, four sisters, one grandson, Steven Krenz, and one  son-in-law, Richard Krenz.

o Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Rex Petty presiding. 

Burial will be at Kismet Cemetery.

Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to Billy Graham Evangelistic Association in care of Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home, 1212 W. Second, Liberal, KS 67901.
