Special to Leader & Times

All-around athlete and former Lady Redskin MaKayla McPhail is currently at Fort Hays State. She played volleyball for two years, but decided to quit volleyball and now is solely a track athlete year round.
This spring, she placed second at the MIAA conference meet, but unfortunately, at that same meet, McPhail tore everything in her knee except her LCL.
McPhail had thrown 145 feet and was sitting eighth in the nation, thus qualifying for the Division II Nationals; however she was unable to attend because of her knee injury.
She had surgery May 20 and is now going through rehab in hopes of returning to track in the spring.
Academically, McPhail is majoring in Health and Human Performance with a concentration in Exercise Science.
Sher is also taking the prerequisites for Occupational Therapy. McPhail plans on applying to Occupational Therapy school at KU Med in Kansas City upon completing her undergrad.
So far, McPhail has maintained a 4.0 and has been on the Dean's Honor Roll every semester.
