Police are seeking help from the public after a rash of burglaries were reported throughout the city this past week. Anyone with information about these crimes could earn up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Liberal Police Capt. Pat McClurg has issued the following press release:

On Feb. 2, Liberal Police Department officers responded to 241 West Pancake Blvd. for a complaint of a burglary. Investigating officers arrived and discovered six businesses at the location had been burglarized over the previous weekend.  Cash and electronics were stolen and several hundred dollars in damages ocurred as the suspects forced entry to the businesses.

The affected businesses were the Juvenile Correction and Prevention Services, Midwestern Well Service, Roca Baptist Mission, Tri-Agency International, Rosel Company and Lawrence Gurney Law Office.

On Feb. 9, officers responded to two separate burglaries on Kansas Avenue. At about 5 a.m., officers responded to Daylight Donuts, 1027 North Kansas, where they found that the suspect(s) broke a large window to gain entry to the business. A 42-inch flat screen television was the only property reported stolen. The total loss was estimated at  $2,600.

At about 6:50 a.m. that same morning, officers responded to the High Plains Daily Leader at 218 South Kansas. Investigating officers found that suspect(s) had broken a large window to gain entry to the business. Again, a 42-inch flat screen television was the targeted property. The total loss was estimated at $2,700.

The LPD is requesting the public’s assistance in solving these crimes. If you have any information about these crimes, please call the LPD at 626-0150. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call the Crime Hotline at 624-4000.

Persons providing information leading to the arrest of those responsible for these crimes are eligible for a cash reward up to $1,000.
