Earlier today, Liberal High School Athletic Director Scott Hinle announced the hiring of Bill Baird as the new Lady Redskin basketball coach.
Baird was the head coach for the Topeka Highland Lady Scots. Last seaosn the Lady Scots turned in a 13-10 record including two playoff victorie and a state tournament appearance.
“Coach Baird has an unbelievable passion for the game of basketball, and an unsurpassed level of excitement and enthusiasm that will spill over to all levels of basketball in Liberal,” Hinkle said. “Coach Baird is the type of coach who is not going to be out worked.”
Baird replaces Shane Stout who resigned to take the head coaching job at KC Piper.
Baird will inherit a highly talented team including Justice Norah who has been a varsity starter for three straight years and is heading in to her senior season.
“Coach Baird is a great teacher of fundamentals, and gets the maximum effort out of his players,” Hinkle said. ““Passion, Passion, Passion is what best describes Bill Baird.”
