LOLA M. WALKER
MEADE – Lola M. Walker, 95, died Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, at Meade District Hospital.
She was born Dec. 2, 1913, to Herman and Katherine Margaret (Gruemken) Thonhoff in rural Meade County.
She married Jesse Ordell “Zack” Walker March 12, 1939, in Dodge City. He died June 15, 1992.
As a young girl, she attended school in rural Meade County.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Meade.
She enjoyed sewing, crafts, quilting and handiwork.
Survivors include three daughters, Margaret Ann Bentrup and husband, Dale, Fort Worth, Texas, Thelma Jean Liggett and husband, Max D., Greensburg, and Barbara Kay Leo and husband, Frank, Hays; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother, John Thonhoff; and three sisters, Anna Hoeme, Louise Palmer and Clara Johnson.
o Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. John Lutheran Church of Meade, with the Rev. Lynn E. Spencer presiding.
Burial will be at the Graceland Cemetery in Meade.
Friends may call from noon to 7 p.m. Thursday, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary.
Memorials are suggested to the St. John Lutheran Church Building Fund or Meade District Hospital, in care of the funeral home.
