The two Pizza Hut locations in Liberal will join Pizza Huts from Kansas and three other states Monday to help raise money for tornado relief.
Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma and Arkansas Pizza Hut restaurants will host a fundraiser to benefit the United Way Pizza Hut Tornado Relief Fund on Monday. The fundraiser includes more than 550 locations across the four states.
All day Monday, 15 percent of all dine-in, carryout and delivery sales will go to the tornado relief fund to assist victims in communities such as Joplin, Mo., Reading, Chickasha, Okla., and Strawberry, Ark.
Seward County United Way Executive Director Kay Burtzloff said she is planning to have volunteers at both of the Liberal locations to allow people to give funds in addition to the 15 percent of sales. She said donors can also designate which town the money goes to.
Burtzloff added all money donated would be appreciated, as some of the communities, including Reading, did not qualify for relief funds from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
No special paperwork is needed to participate. Everyone that eats at any participating Pizza Hut in the states of Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma or Arkansas on Monday will add to the contributions.
