Westerman earns All WAC honors

The Lady Redskin swim team continued to show improvement by finishing ahead of Hays for the first time in the program’s history Tueaday at the Wetsern Ahtletic Conference Swim Meet.
Ashlyn Westerman earned first team All WAC honors, and Maria Pohorecki made the seocnd team.
Liberal’s 200 yard medley relay took third place with a time of 2:17.62  (Alley Bowen, Maria Pohorecki, Taylor Apsley, Ashlyn Westerman).
In the 200 yard IM, Maria Pohorecki took sixth (2:54.90), Taylor Apsley took seventh (2:55.67) and Alley Bowen took eighth (2:56.44).
In the 50 Yard free, Westerman took second with a time of 28.59.
In the 100 yard butterfly, Apsley took seventh (1:23.11) and Alexandra Palma took 10th (1:31.08).
In the 100 Free, Westerman took third (1:03.52) and Morgan Wills took 10th (1:08.32).
In the 500 yard free, Bowen took fifth (7:10.40).
Liberal’s 200 yard free relay took foruth place with a time of 2:02.13 (Wills, Apsley, Bowen, and Westerman).
In the 100 backstroke, Wills took ninth (1:30.35).
In the 100 Breaststroke – Maria Pohorecki took 3rd (1:24.77)
“We had so many improvements in time, out of the 57 swims yesterday, 50 of them were best times which was amazing,” Liberal coach Shelley Tiedeman said. “I’m extremely proud of the growth this team has shown in the two years I’ve been a part of it.  I really look forward to what next year will bring.”

Final team results:
Great Bend – 357 points
Garden City – 295 points
Dodge City – 285 points
Liberal – 172 points
Hays – 168 points
