GREAT BEND — The Liberal Lady Redskins softball team ran into a buzzsaw in the Great Bend Lady Panthers on Tuesday, falling 10-0 and 15-1 in the Western Athletic Conference battle.
“We got a learning experience,” head coach Pat Knott said.
Liberal had two hits in the first game, while two errors contributed to seven first inning runs for Great Bend.
Riley Hay and Emily Bayouth had Liberal’s hits.
In the second game, Liberal was down just 3-1 in the second on an RBI single by Micah Hasik that scored Bayouth. But Great Bend broke it open in the third.
Liberal (3-5 overall, 0-4 WAC) will host Garden City on Tuesday for another Western Athletic Conference battle.
Scott City sweeps SWH
SCOTT CITY — The Southwestern Heights Lady Mustang softball team dropped a pair on the road Tuesday, falling to Scott City 10-0, 11-7.
Cristal Navarro had a double for SWH in the first game for the Lady Mustangs’ only hit.
Navarro and Morgan Eakes each had doubles for Southwestern Heights in the second game.
Eakes took the losses, striking out a total of five.
Heights (2-7) will play host to Satanta on Thursday in Plains.
LHS baseball swept in SC
SCOTT CITY — The Liberal baseball team dropped a pair on the road Tuesday, falling at Scott City 6-1 and 10-7.
The Redskins (3-6) travel to Guymon, Okla. on Saturday.
LHS JV golf wins tourn.
ELKHART — The JV boys golf team traveled to Elkhart for the Rolla JV Invitational on Tuesday. Liberal won the tournament with a total of 214, Sublette 222 and Boise City, Okla. 230. 
All six Liberal team members medaled at the meet. 
Calvin Perterson was third at 49, Hunter Sandell was sixth at 54, Bradley Benson seventh at 54, Zach Zieber 12th at 57, Blake Brenneman 16th at 61 and Holden Fitzgerald 18th at 62.
• The varsity golf team will travel to Guymon, Okla. on Friday.
