OKEENE, Okla. — Beaver’s Tanner McFarland placed first in the 300-meter hurdles and second in the 110 hurdles to help the Beaver Dusters track team to a third place finish Friday in the Okeene track meet.
The Beaver 4x400 relay team placed second and the 4x800-meter relay team was third, while Samuel Becker was third and Eddie Ruiz sixth in the 400-meter run. Forgan’s Rhett Radcliff was 12th in the 400, while Bulldog Camerpn Hall was second and Radcliff third for Forgan in the high jump.
Beaver’s Luis Chavelz finished third in the 1600 and fourth in the 3200,
The Lady Dusters placed 12th in the team standings as Erin Becker took second in the 400 and long jump for the Lady Dusters.
Kaley Hoover placed 11th in the 400, while Jacinda Balderrama was fifth in the 800-meter run and Madison Cates 10th in the 300 hurdles.
Liberal takes second, 10th in weekend golf tourneys
The Liberal boys golf team took second in its own tournament on Thursday before finishing 10th in the Huthcinson Tournament on Saturday.
Guymon, Okla. won the Liberal tournament with a 315 while Liberal tied for second with a 331.  Alex Colvin Shot an 80 for sixth, Zane Ralston 81 for seventh and Blake Stout 83 for 10th.
Saturday in Huthinson, Hutch won the tournament with a 315 and Liberal shot a 371 to place 10th.  Alex Colvin carded an 83 for 22nd.  Zane Ralston 95, Blake Romero 96, Lucas Poulton 97 and Blake Stout 102 rounded out Liberal’s scores.
Lady Red falls 2-1 at Hays
HAYS — The Liberal High School girls soccer team fell to 1-5 overall, 0-2 in the Western Athletic Conference standings with a 2-1 loss to Hays on Thursday on the road.
Crystal Tiscareno took a feed from Karina Vazquez for Liberal’s goal.
Magali Vasquez recorded six saves in goal for the Lady Redskins.
Liberal will continue WAC play on Tuesday at Garden City.
West 7th grade girls win Liberal M.S. meet
LIBERAL — The West Middle School 7th grade girls won Saturday’s track meet at Redskin Field with the following results:
High jump;  Jordan Urban 2nd; 4x800:  Jessica Cisneros, Katherine Covert, Sidney Shiflet, and Sarah Arriaga 2nd; Shot Put:  Megan Larkin 1st, Stephanie Garcia 3rd; Discus:  Megan Larkin 1st, Stephanie Garcia 2nd; 100 meter dash; Jordan Urban 3rd; Triple Jump:  Jordan Apsley 3rd; 4X100:  Jordan Shiflet, Katherine Covert, Sidney Shiflet, and Brittany Granger 2nd; 400 dash:  Brittany Granger, 1st; 200 dash:  Brittany Granger 2nd; 4X400: Jessica Cisneros, Sidney Shiflet, Katherine Covert, and Sarah Arriaga 3rd.
Metal results for West 8th grade girls, who placed 4th are:
3200 meter run:  Clarrisa He, 2nd and Megan Besecker 3rd; 4x800:  Megan Besecker, Cristine Garcia, Jane Pohorecki, and Adelina Parral, 2nd; 100 meter dash:  Keynitra Houston, 3rd; 4x100: Keynitra Houston, Diamond Ward, Trinity Coleman, Katie Silva, 2nd; 4x200:  Keynitra Houston, Diamond Ward, Trinity Coleman, Katie Silva, 1st; 1600 meter run:  Clarissa He, 3rd.
The West 7th grade boys placed third:
Dustin Berens:  first in discus and second in shot; Jared Hasik won first in 100 dash, 200 dash, 400 dash and triple jump with a jump of 35.5-¾.

LHS baseball team rolls over Larned
LIBERAL — The Liberal High baseball team improved to 3-4 on the season with a double-header sweep of Larned on Friday, winning 15-1 and 15-2.
Liberal will travel to Scott City on Tuesday and Guymon, Okla. on April 19.
