A delegation from Liberal met with Congressman Tim Huelskamp and his staff on Tuesday morning. Liberal was one of several Western Kansas cities that sent city commissioners, other government officials and representatives of local Chambers of Commerce and businesses to Washington, D.C. to meet with Congressman Huelskamp and Senators Roberts and Moran. Individuals who participated in the meeting raised a variety of issues with Congressman Huelskamp and his staff.  Specifically, they discussed Essential Air Service (EAS) funding; challenges with the VA clinic in Liberal; anti-business EPA regulations; and desires to relax the rules on No Child Left Behind. On Monday, legislative staffers of Congressman Huelskamp and Senators Roberts and Moran briefed Western Kansas municipal and business leaders about major issues before Congress, including matters related to energy, agriculture, the budget, healthcare, and immigration.
