Chattanooga eliminates Beaver

MIDWEST CITY, Okla. — Even with Chattanooga’s two leading scorers on the bench in foul trouble, the Beaver Lady Dusters still had difficulty scoring against the Lady Warriors.
Ahead 21-20 at the half, Beaver went cold in the third and fell 44-35, ending the Lady Dusters’ season in the quarterfinal round of the state tournament for the third time in the last four years.
The Lady Dusters finish 24-3 overall.
Beaver trailed 14-6 in the first quarter as the Lady Warriors (23-6) were able to get past Beaver’s pressure defense
Beaver jumped to an early 5-4 lead behind Catie Rife.
Beaver was dominant in the second quarter, rallying to take a 21-20 lead at the half. Chattanooga turned the ball over eight times in the second quarter alone and 15 times during the game.
And not only that, but leading scorer Jamie Brown was in foul trouble most of the game. She had 10 of her 19 points in the first half, but had three fouls in the first half, and sat out much of the third and fourth quarters.
When she returned late in the game, Chatty’s lead increased from just three to the final margin of nine.
Bailey McBride scored seven for Chatty, all in the second half.
Beaver was led by Erin Becker with 14 points, Rife nine, Anna McDonald eight, Jordan Jesko three, Jacinda Balderrama one.
Chatty moves on to play No. 1-ranked Calumet tonight at the State Fair Arena. The other semifinal featured No. 2 Cyril vs. No. 6 Frontier. The game began at 9 a.m. and Cyril led 23-15 late in the second quarter.
