One of Liberal’s top track athletes will soon take her taents to Wichita State University.
Caitlin Bauer signed her letter of intent Thursday to go to Wichita State, where she’ll compete for the Shockers in the shot put, discus, javeline and the hammer.
“”I really love their coaches and their program,” Bauer said. “Their throwing coach and their head coach have both been there 11 years, and there’s a lot of stability with the throwing side of the track program.”
Bauer said she liked the facilities and just the school in general.
“It seemed like a good fit for me,” she said. “It wasn’t a big campus like KU or K-State, kind of a smaller university.”
Now that her decision has been made, Caitlin said she can concentrate on her senior track season at LHS. Practice has begun and the season starts April 1 at Ulysses.
“I’m starting my season in the disc about where I left off last year,” she said. “I really like the coaching staff that we have this year. I think it will be a good year.”
