By Sunday afternoon, one of seven young ladies will be making the rounds at all the remaining Pancake Day events wearing the crown of Miss Liberal 2011. Those women vying for the title are:
GIOVANNA BACA is a senior at Liberal High School where she is a member of the National Honor Society, and is the LHS Lions Club student representative. She is also a member of the 5-State Honor Band. As a Dorothy at Dorothy’s House-Coronado Museum, she is a Senior Dorothy Tour Guide. She is a varsity cheerleader and is also  a Dance Team member. Her future ambition is to become a Gynecologist. Giovanna’s platform is “A Helping Hand.” 
For her talent, Giovanna will be dancing to “Show Off.”
Her parents are Blanca and Jesus Baca.
KAELA KRUEGER is a senior at Liberal High School where she is a three-year member of the National Honor Society, and is in the top 15 percent of her graduating class. Kaela has been an all-American cheerleader for 4 years, performing at the Hula Bowl in Honolulu and also at the Orange Bowl in Miami, Fla. She has also received many awards in dance competitions. Her future ambition is to obtain a Bachelo’rs degree in Nursing. Kaela’s platform is “AVID: Advancement Via Individual Determination.”
For her talent, Kaela will be performing a Lyrical dance to “Gravity.”
Her parents are Kae and Kent Krueger.
KELSI MOREE is a freshman at Seward County Community College where she is a cheerleader.  Her accomplishments at LHS included  Best Actress her senior year, Dean’s Honor Roll at  SCCC Fall 2009, Varsity cheerleader, Varsity Tennis, and she competed in the Country Showdown three years. She was also a Dorothy at Dorothy’s House – Coronado Museum.  Her career ambition is to major in Psychology, with a minor in Business. Kelsi’s platform is “Drug Awareness.”
For her talent presentation,  Kelsi will be singing “Blue.“
Her mother is Cindy Moree.
KELSI OYLER is a senior at Liberal High School where she has received awards in 5 States Honor Band and has received honors in Thespians Club. Kelsi is a Band & Jazz Band section leader, and is student leader in her Church Youth Group. Her future plans are to major in Psychology at a four-year University. Kelsi’s platform is “The Importance of Music Education in our Public Schools.”
For her talent presentation, she will be singing “Burn the Bridge” from Thoroughly Modern Millie
Kelsi’s parents are Laura and Clinton Oyler.
MEGAN PARMENTER is a senior at Liberal High School where she has been Scholars Bowl team captain, and has received many awards in music such as “The Woody Herman Jazz” award. She attended summer school at the Berklee College of Music in Los Angeles in August 2010. Megan also received an Exemplary Soloist Award at the Hutchinson Jazz Festival. She is employed at Lyddon Aero Center and is also working on her private pilot’s license. Megan’s platform is “ Educating and Raising Children’s Interests in Math and Science.” 
Megan’s talent will be a performance on Guitar.
Her parents are Colleen and Michael Parmenter. 
MAKAYTLEN PLUNK is a senior at Liberal High School where she is active in Future Business Leaders of America and National Honor Society.  She has been a traveling ballroom dance team captain,  and she also is a member of Dance Troupe, a varsity cheerleader, and on the Jr. varsity softball team. Her platform is “Books for Children.” 
For her talent, MaKaytlen will be performing a jazz dance to “ Cooler Than Me.”
Her parents are Kay Ann and James Jackle.
KARINA RIOS is a senior at Liberal High School where she has been active in  Science Club, Key Club, FCCLA and Avid Ambassador. Karina has been on the A and B honor rolls for two years. Karina is also secretary of her Church Youth Group. She enjoys photography and would someday like to work for “Seventeen Magazine.”
Karina’s platform is “Promoting the Arts for Schools.”
Her talent  will be performing a Ballet Dance to “We are Broken.”
Her parents are Araceli and Jose Rios.
