Thanks for an amazing year
• Special to the Leader & Timess
I have had an amazing and tremendous year as Miss Liberal 2010.
I first participated in the pageant as a Senior in high school. Yet I did not get the results I had wanted. I participated a second year, I had progressed, but still I had not reached my goal.
Then at the 2010 Miss Liberal pageant, I gave the pageant my all and more and in doing so, I was crowned Miss Liberal 2010.
I would like to thank all my friends and family for supporting me endlessly throughout the years and maintaining their faith in me.
Being Miss Liberal has taught me so much about myself over the last several years. I have learned to express myself in front of a large audience, enhance my stage presence and also better my personal talents.
The community and businesses in Liberal have done so much to make the Miss Liberal Pageant possible. Without the board, director and the community, this pageant could not have become one of the most successful local pageant scholarship programs.
Also, I am deeply appreciative of Mrs. Lu Haynes. She has become both a friend and a mentor. I would not have come this far without her consistent help and dedication.
Last but not least, I would like to thank my mother. My mother is the platform I stood upon to become who I am today. My mother has taught me to never give up. She has shown me that if I want something in life – go get it, nothing will ever be handed to you.
Now it is time for me to say farewell to my year of service as Miss Liberal. Although my year has come to and end, it has been an experience I will never forget.
I thank the Miss Liberal Pageant and the Miss America program for everything I have been awarded throughout the year. I am very grateful to say that this community will always have a place in my heart and Liberal will always be my home.
