GOODWELL, Okla. — There isn’t much anybody can say about what took place Saturday night in Goodwell. The top-ranked Forgan Bulldogs put on a show in Oklahoma Panhandle State’s Oscar Williams Fieldhouse, winning the Class B, Region A championship 88-22 over Tyrone.
“I thought defensively we were really good,” Forgan head coach Todd Kerr said. “We pressured them and got them into some situations that they weren’t very comfortable with and that created some transition opportunities for us.”
Just how dominating was Forgan’s performance?
The Bulldogs (23-2) led 25-4 after the first quarter and 52-9 at halftime. The fourth quarter was played with a running clock after Forgan went up 75-17 at the end of the third quarter.
Eleven Bulldogs scored, led by Rhett Radcliff with 26 points — and he sat down — along with the rest of Forgan’s starters — at the 6:02 mark of the thiurd quarter. Jake Regier scored 11, Ryan Radcliff nine, Trevin Lopez eight, Tanner Jones and Dalton Lemieux each scored seven, Jace Kerr six, Luis Ordoñez five, Kaneron Hall four, Tyler McReynolds and Matt Morris two apiece.
Tyrone (17-4) was led by Austin Olivas with six points, Jacob Williams and Cole Wall four each, Tyler Lai, Uriel Orona and Ethan Reece two each. Lai went out with an injury early in the third quarter.
Both teams advance to the Area 1 tournament. Forgan takes on No. 7 Hammon (19-7) at 8 p.m. Friday in Woodward. Tyrone battles No. 18 Gage (19-9) at 3 p.m. Thursday.
“Tyrone’s had a good season,” Kerr said. “Clay (Witt) does a great job with them, but sometimes it goes like that.”
