TURPIN, Okla. — Poor shooting, too many turnovers, and a quick start by the Vici Lady Indians ended the Turpin Lady Cardinals season in the first round of the playoffs, 55-26. Fifteen turnovers in the first three quarters and 21 percent shooting from the field doomed any hopes of an upset.
Vici jumped out 13-0 as the Lady Cardinals struggled to find the bottom of the net, missing their first seven shots. Bianca Lopez ended the Cardinals’ scoring drought with 1:09 left in the first when she sank one of two free throws and made the team’s first field goal to end the first quarter trailing, 15-3.
The Lady Cardinals played their best ball of the night in the second quarter, but Vici still added three to their lead at 29-14 at the break. Turpin could not get any closer than 13, and a 12-0 run in the third by the Lady Indians put the game away for good.
Natalia Baeza led the Lady Cardinals with 10 points, Bianca Lopez added 7. Turpin finished the season 4-17.
