L&T staff report
BALKO, Okla. — The Balko Bison were hoping the fourth time was the charm against the Tyrone Bobcats. The teams had met three times previously — all won by Tyrone at either Tyrone or a neutral site.
Home court advantage didn’t help, as the Bison fell to Tyrone for the fourth time this season, 55-49, Thursday night. The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday, but had been moved to Thursday due to weather.
Tyler Lai led with 15 points, Austin Olivas 14, Jacob Williams 10 points and seven blocks. Williams was also in double digits in rebounds.
Tyrone (15-3) hosts Felt tonight before heading into the district tournament next week at Boise City, where the Bobcats will play the Boise City-Felt winner for the district championship on Feb. 12.
Tyrone will likely face Balko again at the regional tournament.
“I will trade all of my four wins (against Balko) so far for that one regional win,” Tyrone head coach Clay Witt said.
