At 2:12 p.m. Thursday, firefighters were called to 831 Millwood after a carpet cleaning van was reported to be on fire. Liberal Assistant Fire Chief Skeety Poulton said when the first crew arrived, the van was fully engulfed, but the blaze was extinguished quickly. Poulton said the fire also did some damage to a nearby apartment complex building, which was evacuated. He said the van was a total loss, and there was some damage to the exterior structure of the building, including siding. The cause of the fire is unknown, but Poulton said a motor malfunction could not be ruled out at this time. No injuries were reported. The final unit of firefighters left the scene at 3:10 p.m. L&T photo/Robert Pierce
