C.J. Wettstein named vice-chair

By ROBERT PIERCE • Daily Leader

The Seward County Commission has a new chairman and vice chairman.

In a brief meeting Monday, commissioners voted 4-0 to elect Joyce Hibler as their new chairman and 5-0 for C.J. Wettstein as the new vice chairman.

Hibler is currently serving her second term as county commissioner in District 2, and Wettstein was recently re-elected to his seat in District 1.

The reorganization of the board comes following challenger Jim Rice’s victory over incumbent and former chairman Shannon Francis in the November election. Hibler was nominated for the chair by commissioner Steve “Ike” Eisenhauer.

The commission’s next meeting will be Tuesday, Jan. 20, in the commission chambers at the Seward County Administration building.
