3 file for seats on USD No. 480 School Board
• L&T staff report
The city clerk’s office announced Monday that Steve Frazier has filed for a city commission seat in the next general election. Frazier is the seventh candidate to enter the race for three available seats. He joins three incumbents Bob Carlile, Dave Harrison and Larry Koochel, as well as J. D. Cox, John “Blacky” Blackmore and Marlena Nobles, who have all filed to run.
Steven Helm, Tammy Sutherland-Abott and Chris Jewell filed Monday for seats on the USD No. 480 School Board. Clay Louderback filed to run for a seat on the USD No. 483 School Board in Kismet.
The positions currently held by Carlile, Harrison and Koochel will be vacant in April. Harrison and Koochel have served four-year terms, while Carlile will have served a two-year term.
If more than nine individuals file for the vacant city commission positions, a primary election will be conducted on Tuesday, March 1, to reduce the candidates to three per position.
The deadline filing for city commission was at noon today as well as filings for the available open seats on USD No. 480, USD No. 483 and the college board of trustees. See Wednesday’s edition for the complete list of all those who have filed to run for the various seats open in the April 5 election.
