Evelyn “Adie” Whiteley, 75, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
She was born on April 15, 1933, to Roy Daniel and Stella Edna (Wyer) Leaming in Beaver County, Okla.
She married Roy Whiteley April 22, 1950, in Clayton, N.M. He survives.
She attended Liberal High School.
She was co-owner of Beaver Express and R & E Sales with her husband. She had worked at the VFW for many years and was a homemaker.
She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and AARP.
She bowled with a traveling team for many years. She enjoyed being with her family.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda Johnson and husband, Larry, Liberal; one brother, Ray Leaming, Liberal; five grandchildren, Stacy Johnson, Jeff Johnson, Angela Hernandez, Sabrina Stefan and Connie Whiteley; five great-grandchildren, Makyla, Alaina, Sean, Katharine and Alexis; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Alan Whiteley, one grandson, Johnathan Hernandez, one brother, Eldon Wayne Leaming, and one sister, Lucille Smith.
o Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Faith Church with Rod and Mike Whiteley presiding.
Burial will be at the Liberal Cemetery.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday with the family to greet friends from 6 to 8pm Wednesday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home.
