GEORGE E. HOOK
George Edward Hook, 84, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009, at Wheatridge Park Care Center in Liberal.
He was born Sept. 29, 1924, to Floyd and Helen (Meyers) Hook in rural Texas County, Okla.
He married Maria Francesca Franz Dec. 30, 1946, in Moggio, Italy. She survives.
He was a high school graduate of Eureka High School in Baker, Okla.
He served in U.S. Army, 34th. and 88th Infantry, 351st Regiment, Company A from 1944 – 1947. He worked as a machinist at Beech Aircraft in Liberal.
He was a member of the Blue Devils Reunion Group and the Cimarron County Historical Society.
Other survivors include two daughters, Ellen Pelton and husband, Duane, Turpin, Okla., and Lidia Hook-Gray and husband, Wayne, Liberal; three brothers, Ausbie Hook and wife, Becky, Wichita, Charles Hook and wife, Nadine, Albuquerque, N.M., and Donnie Hook and wife, Phyllis, Flagstaff, Ariz.; three sisters, Marry Lee Smith, Tyrone, Okla., Cordelia Stalcup and husband, Dick, Tyrone, Okla., and Carolyn Herd and husband, Bill, Chandler, Okla.; four grandchildren, Kara and Scott Bean and Amanda and Mark Brungardt; two great-grandchildren, Bailey and Ryder Brungardt; two nephews, Mario Zanatto, Moggio, Italy, and Lucchio, Zanatto, Moggio; and one sister-in-law Lidia Franz-Zanatto, Moggio, Italy.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ivan Hook.
o Funeral services were at 10 a.m. today at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial was at the Tyrone Cemetery.
