FOWLER – Marilyn (Bergkamp) Pollard, 71, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008.
She was born July 7, 1937, to Frank and Mary (Kuhl) Bergkamp in Fowler.
She graduated from St. Mary of the Plains High School in Dodge City.
She started work for Laurin Jones in Dodge City and worked in the Kansas State Capitol as a legislative assistant and secretary. For more than 30 years at Public Service Company of Colorado, she worked her way up from corporate librarian to assistant to the president, chairman and CEO.
She volunteered Junior Achievement, World Youth Day 1993, United Way, Metro Denver Salvation Army and many others. She served as a Colorado State Capitol volunteer.
She is survived by sisters, Carol Cordes and Janet Rickard, Meade; and one brother, Eugene, Roseville, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother, one brother, Don Bergkamp, and one sister, LaVerne (Vann) Reich.
o A vigil service/rosary will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Fowler.
Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 19, at St. Anthony’s.
Burial will follow at Fowler Cemetery, with reception following at Parish Hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Salvation Army Red Shield Computer Lab, 1370 Pennsylvania St., Denver, CO 80203.
