L&T staff report
BALKO, Okla. — The Forgan Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs visited Beaver County rival Balko on Saturday night, with the boys cruising 68-22 and the ladies pulling out a 40-39 win.
The girls game featured a battle of Top 20 teams as the No. 10 Lady Bison and No. 19 Lady Bulldogs met on the hardwood. Balko led most of the game before Forgan was able to grab the lead and hold on in the final minute.
“It was a defensive battle,” Forgan head coach Brett Trippet said.
Kenzi Taylor scored 13, Lindsey Trippet 8, Kaci Hall 5, Samantha Lasher 5, Allison Watson 5 and Gabby Martinez 4.
The Top-ranked boys were never challenged against Balko in improving their record to 16-2.
Both teams will play host to Class 4A Guymon Tuesday night. The Tiger boys are not ranked despite an 11-2 overall record. The Lady Bulldogs scrimmaged Guymon in the pre-season.
“They whipped us in the scrimmage, so we’ve got a lot of work ahead of us in the next day here to get ready,” Trippet said.
