Three new members were sworn in Monday morning, and less than two hours later, the Seward County Commission had a new chairman and vice chairman.
Jim Rice, who formerly served as vice chairman, was voted as the chairman for this year, and incoming commissioner Randy Malin was elected as the vice chairman.
Rice will replace outgoing chairman Joyce Hibler, who was defeated by challenger Ada Linenbroker in the November general election.
Malin defeated Steve “Ike” Eisenhauer in the November election. Malin and Linenbroker were joined by former city commissioner and Liberal Mayor Doug Lafreniere in being sworn in as new members of the commission. C.J. Wettstein rounds out the board.
