On Saturday, Jan. 15, a hometown boy who has made it big in Nashville will return home to perform for his friends and family. Jerrod Niemann will be performing on stage with Liberal High School Booster Club’s Country Showdown winners, and there will also be a few lucky fans that will take home special memories and memorabilia from the event.
Joe Denoyer of KSCB’s 102.7 The Legend said a custom-painted guitar will be the most coveted prize of the evening.
“Dave Ratzlaff, the new auto body instructor at the vo-tech custom painted it,” Denoyer said. “During the Showdown Friday night, we are going to have a live auction. The lucky bidder will win the guitar, two tickets to the concert and a backstage pass to get the guitar autographed. The proceeds from this will go to the Liberal High School Booster Club.”
And the prizes don’t stop there. KSCB is also offering quite a VIP package. Bidders must register and place bids on KSCB’s Web site. However, the bidding process will end on Jan. 11.
“On the KSCB Web site, people can register and bid on two tickets to the concert, a night’s stay at the Holiday Inn Express, dinner at Ruffino’s, a limo ride to and from the concert and also some autographed memorabilia,” Denoyer said. “Go to www.kscbnews.net, they have to register, and then they can bid in the comment section. Proceeds to that go to Stepping Stone Shelter.”
It has been Denoyer’s goal to get the 1997 Liberal High School graduate and chart-topping country music artist back to Liberal since Niemann’s recent success. He is grateful to all who helped him secure a date for the concert.
“I looked at his itinerary, I looked at some open dates and thought about what would work best for us,” Denoyer said. “I talked to his manager, and we kind of planned the event, but his dates were filling up fast with the Brad Paisley tour so we needed to jump on it quick. So, I shot an offer to the booking agency, then we negotiated from there. It has worked out really well. Sponsors have stepped up, the Booster Club, it is just going to be very exciting.”
