Natural gas service provider Black Hills Energy announced Thursday the company’s new operations manager for Southwest Kansas, which includes the Garden City, Liberal and Dodge City areas.
Lon Meyer now fulfills the pivotal role of manager for Southwest Kansas, which includes approximately 30,000 of the utility’s 110,000 natural gas customers in Kansas.
Meyer attended elementary school in Ingalls, 25 miles east of Garden City, and middle school and two years of high school in Lakin, 25 miles west of Garden City. He joined the utility as an operations supervisor in Lincoln, Neb., in 2005, after working for many years as a division manager for a large natural gas supplier in Nebraska and Colorado.
“Lon knows what it takes each day to successfully provide our customers with safe, reliable service, ever mindful of our goal to exceed expectations in doing so,” said Steve Hanna, Black Hills Energy’s Kansas operations director. “He has plenty of practical experience in leading people, has considerable project management experience and has led safety programs for DOT compliance. Safety is a highly regarded value at Black Hills Energy.”
Most recently, Meyer served as a project manager on the Black Hills Energy process improvement team, where he led productivity initiatives, software improvements, manpower studies and more. As operations manager, the supervisors of Dodge City, Liberal and Garden City will report to Meyer and he will be responsible for all facets of operations for the area. Meyer will office out of Black Hills Energy’s Dodge City location.
