The Redskin wrestlers have been putting in time over the break to
prepare for the Southwest Classic that begins Friday at Liberal High
School.

About a dozen teams will look to compete in the annual tournament.
Overall the young ’Skins have done well not having all their starters
at Colby and with some youngsters getting their first varsity
experience.
Liberal is looking to use this tournament to turn some heads.
“We’ve got a solid team and we’re going to work hard this week,”
Liberal coach Mike Pewthers said. “We’ve had tough practices with
most our varsity guys coming in all break. We’ll be ready. Colby is a
real solid team if we can take them out as a team we’ll turn a lot of
heads in the state.”
Liberal has missed two senior state contenders in Nate Davis and
Tyler Sutherland in some of the early action, but they will be ready
to compete and look to stand atop the podium this weekend.
The ’Skins believe that they are definitely capable of winning the
Classic.
“We have a good shot at winning it but we got to really wrestle to
beat Colby they’re really the team to beat,” Pewthers said.
Other teams the Skins will face are Hugoton, Goodland, and Pratt all
tough teams the Redskins won’t overlook and look to pin this weekend.
