Being a native to the Southwest Kansas area, new Foss Ford sales consultant Scott Sutherland is ready to help local citizens find their perfect vehicle.

Sutherland began at Foss Ford only a few weeks ago after working at some other local places.

“I started here at Foss Ford Jan. 25. I was with the Lewis Automotive Group for about a year and a half prior to this and I was in the oil fields for several years prior to working for Lewis,” Sutherland said. “I grew up in the Moscow area most of my life, so I've been around Moscow, Hugoton, Liberal, basically this whole area. I live in Plains and I've been there for 14 years. We lived in Liberal for about eight or nine years and then spent time in Moscow for most of my life growing up and I graduated from school there. Southwest Kansas has been my home for a long time.”

Sutherland also talked about how he initially became interested in the car dealership line of work.

“It actually began a long time ago but the oil fields were always first and then when that didn't work out, I had to find a new line of work and this became what I concentrated on,” Sutherland said. “It was almost like instinct. I knew this would be a good type of job for me and it was something I could do, so I started and worked to have success here in Liberal. There wasn't really anything that pushed me, it was something that just kind of happened and it's been great so far.”

Overall, Sutherland said, his time working in the car dealership world has been a good experience.

“You get to meet a lot of people when you help them select their next car, that's what I really like,” Sutherland said. “It's a relaxed atmosphere, we have a great sales manager and general manager in Larry McConnell. It's just been great to be here.”

For those preparing to look for a new vehicle, Sutherland offered encouragement to visit Foss Ford and added he is excited to be working at the dealership.

“Just come in here and see what we can do for you. If you give us the opportunity to show you what you can get for your money and help you find the right car, we will help you with all of that,” Sutherland said. “I'm just excited to be here, I'm excited to be part of this group. Liberal's got great potential and we're building up, we've got more stores coming in, which will bring more traffic to Liberal. We just want everything to come through our doors. Come see me, give me a chance to work with you and I'll help you get in the car you need.”
