ULYSSES – Elizabeth W. Toews, 88, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018 at Bethel Home in Montezuma.  

She was born Feb. 12, 1930 to Henry and Anna (Weins) Toews in Montezuma. 

She married Cornelius Toews Feb. 27, 1949. He preceded her in death.

She attended school in Montezuma.

She previously worked as a nurse’s aide in the hospital and most enjoyed meeting the people.  

She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed cooking.

She was a member of the Grant Mennonite Church in Ulysses.  

Survivors include children: Bertha Goossen and husband, Leonard, Ulysses, Anita Goossen and husband, Lloyd, Greensburg, and Ron Toews and wife, Rosalee, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; siblings: David Toews, Nettie Goossen, Esther Penner, Frances Penner, and Walter Toews; 13 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. 

She was also preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Marie Wedel, Martha Goossen, Susie Toews, Ruth Schmidt, and Clara Epson; and one granddaughter.

 Funeral services took place today at Grant Mennonite Church in Grant County with Minister Denton Koehn and Minister Stuart Jantzen presiding. 

Burial took place at the Grant Mennonite Cemetery.
