DODGE CITY — The Liberal South Middle School wrestling team captured the Dodge City Invitational on Thursday, defeating Garden City Abe Hubert 84-18, Dodge City 82-13 and Garden City Kenneth Henderson 60-43.
The Apaches won 11 matches by pin fall over Abe Hubert and 10 by pin fall over Dodge City, as well as two wins by technical fall over Dodge City.
In the championship win over Kenneth Henderson, nine of the individual wins were by pinfall.
After two tournaments, six Apache wrestlers remain undefeated — Bryan Miller at 80 pounds, Brandon Kisner at 141, Tristan Martinez at 155, Briton Windom at 160, Rex Heronemus at 180 and Sergio Borjas at 265 pounds.
West finished fourth yesterday in Dodge City, ahead of Dodge City, Great Bend, Abe Hubert and Hays Felten.
South will battle West Saturday at Liberal High School beginning at 10 a.m.
•Last week in Hugoton, five Apache wrestlers finished first, including Bryn Miller at 80 pounds, Kisner at 141, Martinez at 155, Heronemus at 180 and Borjas in the heavyweight division.
