The Lady Saints thinned the tie at the top of the Jayhawk Conference Wednesday after earning the season sweep over Hutchinson in the Sports Arena with a 62-49 win.

Seward and Cowley remain tied at the top of the conference, and Hutch slipped a game back.

altSeward jumped out to an early 7-4 lead after a Mollie Mounsey basket, but Hutch went on a 5-0 run to take a 9-7 lead.

The Lady Blue Dragons led 11-9 before Chelsea Lazenby came off the bench and drained a three pointer to give the Lady Saints a 12-11 lead.

Hutch took the lead again before the quarter ended, but Vilma Colvane connected on a jumper to give the Lady Saints a 14-13 advantage.

The Lady Blue Dragons took their largest lead when Jada Mickens connected on a jump shot to put Hutch ahead 17-14, and Hutch continued to lead by three until Amy Scott hit a three pointer with 6:05 to play in the first half to tie the game, 19-19. The lead changed hands three more times and there were four more ties the rest of the first half, and Seward had a 29-27 lead at the break.

The first five minutes of the third quarter saw another tie and four more lead changes with Seward taking a thin 35-33 lead in a game that neither team led by more than three until Brennyn Seagler hit a three pointer that pushed Seward to a 38-33 lead, and a minute later she added another basket to give Seward a seven-point lead.

Silvia Veloso pushed the lead to nine, and the Lady Saints outscored Hutch 13-6 in the third quarter to take a 42-33 lead.

Hutch never got closer than eight in the fourth quarter, and the Lad Saints completed the season sweep of the Lady Blue Dragons with the 62-49 win.

Mounsey led the Lady Saints with 20 points, Veloso had 11, and Seagler came off the bench to score 10.

The Lady Saints (16-2, 12-2) will travel to Butler Saturday to face the Lady Grizzlies (12-5, 9-5).

Seward returns to the Greenhouse Wednesday to face Cloud (12-5, 9-5).
