City water upgrades may cause temporary disruptions near Hickory moving west PDF Print E-mail

• Special to the Leader & Times

The contractor is completing the work on the water pipes on Eighth Street, and the City of Liberal Water Dept. is anticipating starting on Hickory Street approximately Monday. Staff will start on the east end of Hickory Street and move west from Warren Avenue to Virginia Avenue, and the project will continue west to Lincoln Avenue.

The initial construction may have a temporary adverse impact on traffic flow to Prairie View Elementary and Seymour Rogers Middle School, but the Liberal Police Department will have oficers in place for traffic control for the morning drop-off traffic and again in the afternoon from pick-up traffic. If you have children going to one of those schools, contact the school’s staff and they will advise on the temporary traffic flow changes.

City staff apologizes for the inconvenience. For more information, contact the Water Dept. at 626-0138.
