JOHNSON – Elliott Stanton, 83, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010, at Caney Nursing Home in Caney.
He was born March 31, 1927, to Lester and Helen (Singley) Stanton in Plains.
He married Cherie Vadnais in May 1980 at Timnath, Colo. She survives.
He graduated from Manter High School.
He was a retired farmer and truck driver. He drove a bus for Continental Trailways in the mid- 1950s. During the early 1960s, he sold pickup campers for Meade Manufacturing.
He enjoyed playing golf and bowling.
Other survivors include son, Mark Stanton, Fort Collins, Colo.; stepson, Peter Richardson and wife, Jane, Garden City; daughter, Diane Williamson and husband, Dan, Modesto, Calif.; brother, Leon Stanton and wife, Dixie, Salida, Colo.; sister, Edith Kruse and husband, Gordon, Fort Collins; two grandsons, Brian Pomeroy, Modesto, Calif., Todd Stanton; one stepgrandson, Travis Richardson, Garden City; one great-grandchild, Elisia Pomeroy, Modesto; and sister-in-law, Donna Stanton, Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Dennis Stanton, and brother Lyndell Stanton.
o A private graveside service took place Wednesday, Nov. 3, at the Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson.
A public memorial service will be in the spring.
